The file is apparently damaged, I try to download it from both sharingmatrix and hotfile and it was impossible, though it seems to be a good album.

There go my comments:
1) The files download ok but the album is lame.
2) This is pretense indie rock with a touch of melancholy and no glint at all… very boring…
3) Still if you like the genre, i’d suggest you go download some blur records instead.
4) Overall impression: not worth downloading. Move on…

I totally disagree with “wathever”, here’s my personal opinion:
1) The album is not easy, but given the proper time, the atmospheres and guest voices are mostly brilliant.
2) This is a cinematic album, no big rockers, mainly moods and beautiful soundscapes with great vocal harmonies.
3) I like this genre and I can only stand one of Blur’s albums (“Parklife”) I find the rest of their work…lame and pretense.
4) Overall impression: definitely worth downloading and giving it a careful listen.
This is the last thing the great Mark Linkous recorded.

For me, every Sparklehorse’s album is an “easy listening”. It doesn’t mean it’s lame. Dark Night of The Soul, after a few days of listening, appeared to be the greatest work of Mark Linkous. What’s the point of recommending Blur’s tracks here? It’s like ” you don’t like the new Metallica? Go listen Stevie Wonder instead”
pardon my english, i’m from Poland

yes, why knock something just for the sake of it? also, there is not this one common sound to all “indie” music. the way in which you generalize music makes it apparent that you are not a very apt or interesting listener. the word “pretense” does not make sense in the way it’s used, and i’m particularly curious about this “glint” you speak of. define the GLINT! ;)
that said, i love everything mr. linkous ever did…

Blurr & Sparklehorse are two different worlds alltogether.
As for the so-called lacking of “glint” : some of the stuff on “DNoTS” is instant burn-up magnesium.
And Linkous? Hell, Linkous is The noise-pop God in heaven alive.
